Archivist. Noun. A person who has the job of collecting and storing materials in an archive. Keeper of records or documents.

Agaveist. Noun. A person with a deep love of agave spirits who has a compulsion to tell stories about Mexico’s indigenous spirits and record their history. Keeper of mad ideas and maddeningly tasty drinks.

The Agaveist is a UK-based magazine that celebrates agave spirits all over the world. This includes tequila and mezcal reviews, think pieces around trends in the industry, historical stories of the people who have made agave spirits what they are today and myriad other factors that make Mexican spirits infinitely fascinating.

Because the agave goes beyond just one category. It is pulque, it is bacanora, it is raicilla. It is the lifeblood of mezcaleros providing for their families and giving back to their communities. It is the echo of indigenous civilisations that have held on in the soil. It is a microcosm of Mexico: resilient, adaptive, beautiful, unfathomable.
